Nutmeg Community were pleased to host Grahame Park’s annual community sporting event, Urban Gamez, for it’s 6th year.
This year had something to offer everyone with 150 children and young people taking part. From an inspiring athlete, face painting and the high-energy 60 metre dash, the concourse was packed with people getting involved in the activities on offer. Such as the rowing machine provided by Rolling Base, skipping challenges as well as the main event – the 60 meter sprint.
An organizer of the event said ‘’The best thing about Urban Games is seeing children compete and take part year after year in the electric 60 metre dash which is a fast sprint down the concourse.’’ Participants in this race had the chance to win exciting prizes and received an Urban Games t-shirt.
We were lucky enough to have a British Champion athlete in attendance on the day, Wrestler Chloe Spiteri. Chloe inspired and encouraged race participants, and even took part in a race herself. Chloe is the only senior female wrestler in London and is working towards Rio Olympics 2016.
Barnet's Mayor, Cllr Mark Shooter, also attended the event and was very impressed to see how the event brought large numbers of the community together:
We’d like to thank Barnet homes for their continued partnership working on this event, and Nandos for its kind donation to Urban Gamez.
